My wife and I were discussing future team building event that I am planning for my folks at work this evening. No phones or iPads were in use and I wasn’t using Facebook at the time. I log in now and this is the first ad that I get. This is why people don’t trust this stuff. Axe throwing does look like fun.

And this is why the only app on my phone with microphone permissions is the phone app.

You or someone you know/work with probably talked about it. Facebook must know they might be doing team building with you or someone where you work with since finding out 1) where you work 2) what you do there 3) where “there” is 4) who else works with you and what they do there are all trivially easy things to do when they have all your location services and social data.
FB can also tag something your interested in if you google it, and the page/app doesn’t even have to be active on your device for them to do it.

Facebook is spying on you, but not in the direct way that you think (probably).

My work did this as a celebration after we got an award. Doesn’t seem like the best thing to have at a bar but it’s fun as hell
